About Us

As a hybrid organization, Dixon Chamber & Main Street (Discover Dixon) works to grow Dixon by advocating for our business members and giving them a voice in local decision-making. We also organize and host community events to enhance the quality of life for the people and businesses in Dixon and the surrounding areas. The City of Dixon also contracts us to promote Dixon as a place to visit. Through this partnership we’ve enhanced Dixon’s brand presence throughout the Northern Illinois area while also promoting the cultural, economic, and cultural aspects of our region.

Our History

The Dixon Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry originated in 1887 as the Citizens Association of Dixon.
In 1912 joined the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America. And in 1925 joined the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
On Oct. 7, 1996, The Dixon Main Street formed a 501(c)3 after their application was accepted by the National Main Street Center.
In 2014, the City entered into an agreement with Dixon Main Street to manage the riverfront.
Over the course of 20 years, major strides in downtown revitalization has culminated in 17 events and promotional opportunities in 2017 alone.
In 2016, the Dixon One committee was created to begin the process of merging Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Dixon Main Street. In July 2017, we merged into the Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street, Inc.
