Nourish the Journey 5K Walk

OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center is excited to bring back the Nourish the Journey 5K Walk for a second year, continuing a meaningful tradition that celebrates parents, babies and the support systems that help families thrive.
The free community event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Page Park in Dixon. Check-in begins at the Lion’s Club Shelter from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with the walk starting at 10:15 a.m.For organizer Gwen Strum, RN, IBCLC, the event is about much more than logging miles. It’s about recognizing the unique feeding journey every family experiences and the people who make that journey possible.
“Once a baby is born, another journey is just beginning, the feeding journey,” Gwen said. “We consider it an honor to walk alongside new mothers during that journey and provide the support they deserve to help meet their individual goals.”The event welcomes not only parents and babies, but also the family members, friends and supporters who have encouraged them along the way.
The first 100 people to register are guaranteed a welcome bag, and mothers can select a breastfeeding or pumping milestone keychain. Following the walk, attendees can explore a community resource fair featuring organizations and services that support local families.
