Hear How History Shaped Us.

On Thursday, April 11, former Dixon mayor James Dixon will tell the remarkable story of “Father” John and Rebecca Dixon in Discover Dixon’s annual Founder’s Day address.

In this one-hour presentation, James Dixon, a direct descendant of John and Rebecca Dixon, will reveal the highlights of his research for “The Dixons of Dixon,” his recent book. The presentation includes images of rare photos and documents as it describes the motivations and trials of the Dixons’ long journey to this area, their confrontations with the Indians, their pivotal role in founding Dixon in 1830, how they lost everything, and much more.

The presentation, at the Northwest Territory Historic Center at 205 West 5th Street, is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; presentation starts at 6 p.m.
